We made the scenic two and a half hour drive from Te Anau to Queenstown yesterday on another perfect day.
The weather was clear and sunny and not really too cold either, perfect conditions for taking the gondola up for a higher view.
After taking some time to enjoy the great views of Queenstown from the top of the gondola, we all headed for the street luge for some action! We took a nice scenic ride down (which you’re required to do for your first ride) and Chris went on a second time on the “race course”. It was the perfect activity to ease into the craziness of Queenstown.
After heading back down on the gondola, we decided to head to the gardens to play some disc golf. There’s an 18 hole course here right through the gardens and next to the lake. The game started off great until about the 4th hole or so when Chris’s disc disappeared (we’re pretty sure a passerby just picked it up not knowing what it was). No worries though, as we finished the course in tag team fashion and Doug even had some extreme disc golfing fun (see the video). All in all, it was a good first day in Queenstown.
Today we’re planning on figuring out what extreme sport to try. There are so many choices, it’s hard to choose! Check back tomorrow to see what happens….
